The RPA 1000 is a new state of the art steering gear tester designed and manufactured by Kaufman Products. It has been built on the same proven platform as the Branick RPA 700. The tester comes with a larger 10 gallon reservoir and the control panel has been moved back five inches to give the operator more working area. We have also increased the length of the rack vise mount six inches to allow for longer racks to be mounted to the tester.The RPA 1000 incorporates several additional features to enable it to test all current model steering gears. To begin with, the RPA 1000 has the ability to vary and measure the flow rate in gallons per minute through the gear. This is a necessary feature to truly test the steering gears that come on many vehicles manufactured after 1993 because the variable assist steering valve is mounted in the steering pump. Since the steering effort is varied by flow rate at the pump, to properly test the gear you must be able to vary the flow rate while testing the gear under load to verify it is functioning correctly. We have further upgraded the RPA 1000 with a 12-volt test system. This will allow you to correctly test Saginaw Magnasteerฎ and ZF Servotronicฎ gears along with many other gears that have electrical components regulating the power assist. Finally, the RPA 1000 incorporates an absolute filtering system on both the pump inlet and the system return hydraulic lines. These filters are monitored with filter gauges to let the operator know when they need to be replaced. These absolute filters eliminate pump and valve failure due to oil contamination. For rebuilders with the RPA 700 testers, we can update your tester to the RPA 1000 for a nominal fee.
